Wherever I travel I always search out milliners.  My trip to San Francisco with Mr. J in June was no exception.  I discovered DeAnna Gibbons HERE, milliner extraordinaire, and spent several hours in her studio enthralled by her exquisite headwear, her artistry, and her kind and generous response to my visit. The news of Kate Spade's death by suicide saddened me for days.  Then came the account of Anthony Bourdain's death by the same cause and my sorrow intensified.  Two incredibly talented and accomplished stars were gone from the planet forever.  The loss of their brightness cast a long shadow across my internal landscape. Several years ago I discovered this green Kate Spade bag at a consignment shop. It has flourished in my bag collection. I have enjoyed the bright color, size, and shape of its high quality leather. During the month of April I was driving on my way to visit a friend when I happened upon an estate sale sign, which took me off my intended path for a few blocks.  As I reached my destination and entered the beautifully designed space of the sale location, I was rewarded with several rooms of clothing that fit me perfectly.  As you can imagine, I contacted my friend to tell her that I would be late. I learned from the estate sale company which was managing the sale that the woman who lived in the house had died. I

June's Hat Attack is a handdyed ombre parisisol top hat which milliner and creative genius Cha Cha HERE designed in collaboration with Andria, one of the owners at Salmagundi HERE, a wonderful hat shop in Boston. Recently I was part of a photo shoot featuring the designs created by my friend Brooks Luby HERE, Denver fashion designer extraordinaire.  The shoot took place at the Maven Hotel  HERE, which promotes Colorado artists.   My 97-year-old mother Norma transitioned two weeks ago, just short of her 98th birthday.  The photo above was published on Style Crone during a visit a few years ago.  She will be greatly missed by many for her resilience, intelligence and inspirational approach to life. She was fiercely independent since my father died 22 years ago, and could never resist a good game of bridge. She approached aging with a positive mindset and was an inspiration for everyone that she knew.  She had friends of all ages, and was especially fond of her 17 grandchildren. Mom in 1938 at the

This monochromatic composition has been waiting in the wings for the snow that I knew was inevitable. The month of March is typically the Front Range of Colorado's snowiest month of the year. Sure enough!  A white carpet greeted me on the morning before the first day of spring. It was the perfect day to walk the short block to City Park dressed in white and cream. There's something about snow in the spring that lifts my spirits. It feels clean and refreshing, as though the earth is setting the stage for new beginnings. I can feel it in the air.

Today is my 75th birthday.  The Ides of March.  I've been thinking about the birthday posts that I've done in the past over the years.  I have never gone back to read previous posts since I began Style Crone on July 13th, 2010. I admire Francis McDormand and was thrilled that she received the best actress award at the 2018 Oscars for her role in Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.  The fact that she closed her acceptance speech with a call for inclusion only strengthened my respect and high regard for her. I can only hope that this concept of inclusion spreads across all industries, communities, and organizations across the planet, treasuring diversity as the norm.
