Photo by Nelson Vintage fringe dress-yard sale, sequin/knit hat-NYC vintage shop, long black gloves-estate sale, rhinestone earrings-flea market, heels-consignment store. Another chemo eve and anxiety around PET scan results. So, photo shoot seemed like the most rational approach to the day. Nelson and the SC participated in a little laughter in the afternoon. We may be living on the fringe but we can still have fun! I decided to dedicate my outfit to a celebration of Sharon Jones with fringe galore. Whatever works!
Photo by Camille In the spirit of "day to evening" The Style crone took her outfit from "PET scan to lunch." This change in venue required a few ensemble revisions. Adding a jacket, black sheer socks with faint fishnet, and a different drape of the scarf took The Style Crone out the door with Camille, who floats beside me with elegance and grace. The color transformation on the "leaf wall" in the garden provided the perfect back drop for portraying this adaptation.

As we entered the PET scan facility very early on a wind chilled morning, Nelson recognized a familiar technician and playfully bantered, "Hey buddy, hope you don't take this personally, but I'm not that happy to see you." Laughter abounds in the most unusual spaces. When you become a regular at the PET scan center you know something is up and I
Photo by Nelson Coral vintage hat, coral beads with tassels and blue shirt-estate sales. The Style Crone went to a book signing and had a great time with friends. Sometimes fetal position sounds like a good idea, but as I get dressed up and ready to go I feel uplifted. And this coral hat, newly released from it's hat box confinement, was really ready to "hit the streets." So how could I say no?
Photo by Mimi Meyer of AW' 10 Inspirations The hat room transition to fall/winter is complete and the Style Crone is happily surrounded by the many beauties of the season. It took nearly a month to accomplish, but there have been distractions. When I sit in the pink fringed chair and gaze about, I feel inspired to wear each and every chapeau over the next six months. The fall hats are ready to roll!
Photo by The Style Crone The Style Crone attended the spectacular performance of "Rituals" by the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble, and was honored to photograph Cleo, the visionary Founder, Artistic Director and Choreographer of CPRD. Cleo is a Denver treasure, a national presence in the dance world, and an international cultural ambassador. Her honors and awards would take pages to list and describe, but her influence on our lives and the life of our daughter Camille are also too numerous to chronicle. Camille was a student at the Cleo Parker Robinson Dance School from the ages of three through

Nelson can make any outfit shine! I look upon Nelson and his beauty, inside and out, and I can't believe or accept that we are in the midst of this medical crisis. With grace and elegance
Photo by The Style Crone A hat collection would not be complete without a multitude of hat pins!
Photo by the Style Crone The Style Crone found these Ferragamo shoes at an estate sale this past summer for all of $4.00. It seems as though every sale that I went to during a period of two months had shoes my size, throwing me into the midst of an estate sale relapse. So here they are in all their glory accompanying me to chemo. In the "agony and ecstasy" category, the blog Granpaparazzi featured a photo of The Style Crone today. I was thrilled and delighted by this honor!
Photo by Nelson Green jacket, hat, belt and shoes-estate sales, earrings-NYC flea market, yoga pants. Here we are in "chemo-land" again and Nelson's tumor markers are sliding up and his liver function values are "out of whack." Must be that one glass of wine last Friday evening (oh how I wish that was true). Or maybe it's the drugs he received during his surgical procedure. So that means PET scan next week, so will need to get my outfit together for that festive event. Nelson said today after our exam room photo shoot, "When I see myself in the mirror
From Tziporah Salamon "I wouldn't miss this," said The Style Crone!!!!!!
Photo by Mimi Meyer of AW' 10 Inspirations The Style Crone could not resist a repeat of the outfit repeat, which was taken in front of the Bluebird Theatre on Colfax Avenue, just a few blocks from our home. I didn't realize until after the photo was taken that posters for "Sonic Youth" were featured prominently behind the SC. Stark contradiction?!
Photo by Nelson Privilege Paris jacket/pants and leopard print beret-estate sales, earrings-flea market, and a repeat of the orange peep toe pumps. This outfit has fulfilled my personal rule of "no repeat" with the same group of people, and it took me through four events which included: 1)A dear friend's dancing birthday party, 2) Fashion Denver's Fall Fashion Market, 3)Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Ensemble's performance, 4)A neighbor's moving party. I do allow myself to replicate one or two elements of an ensemble, but not the total picture. Outfit versatility, memory challenge, creative expression and self entertainment!
Photo by The Style Crone The Style Crone wore these shoes out to dinner last evening. I found these vintage 40's black suede platform sling back heels with blue/fuschia/gold beads at an estate sale years ago. They fit like a glove (and yes, I do have an extensive glove inventory as well) and they have a very special place in my shoe collection. Graceful, wearable, historical art!
Photo by Nelson Vintage hat, shoes and earrings-estate sales, vintage pin-gifted, Raniero Gattinoni dress-estate sale. The Style Crone and Nelson went out to dinner this evening and the celebration included a hat with veil. He continues to recover from his surgical procedure, but as always, remains the most handsome man in the room with a spirit larger than any space I've ever occupied.
Photo by The Style Crone Every year around Labor Day The Style Crone pulls the fall hats out of their hat box hibernation, cleans the spring/summer line, and puts them to sleep in their tissue paper and boxes to rest until the next seasonal transition in April. This is a twice yearly ritual and it's a delight to reacquaint myself with each and every "sleeping beauty." Today I'm finishing up this changeover while dancing in the hat room to the new Mavis Staples CD that Nelson just brought home for me and perfecting the animal print corner. As I've
Photo by Douglas This Prada bag flew into my hands at an estate sale this summer. It was half price day and the estate sale staff continued to come down on the price until I was embarrassed to say "no." So I was obligated to buy it and here it is hanging off The Style Crone's shoulder in front of a brilliant bed of flowers. Fall is in the air!
http://www.youtube.com/v/ey58QCTqf_s?fs=1&hl=en_US I first saw Tziporah Salamon on Advanced Style, a blog by Ari Seth Cohen about stylish and creative older people. I was taken with the observation that she always wore hats, and when I saw this video I was thrilled with her description of how hats are an element of every outfit for her. She also talks about dressing as art and that she is "creating a painting" as she puts the details of an ensemble together. The Style Crone was in heaven as she spoke. This beautiful and fascinating woman's website Tziporah Salamon goes into more detail about
Photo by Nelson Coach fedora and boots-consignment stores, leather jacket-vintage shop, silk chiffon leopard print scarf-estate sale, jeans-Buffalo Exchange. Time to bring out the boots and leather jacket for the uncomfortably cold surgical suite. Nelson's procedure went well, but I never grow accustomed to the helpless feeling that I experience as I walk out the door of the pre-surgical area and he becomes the responsibility of the anesthesiologist, surgeon, and nurses who have his life in their hands. The Style Crone's anxiety is evidenced by the soy latte "delicately?" spilled across the waiting room floor. How classy!
