This one is for Daniel, who is in the midst of a lifesaving unplanned surgery today.  All my thoughts and best wishes are with him as I write this post.  It’s the third anniversary of Hat Attack and every photo for this monthly series was taken by Daniel. I’m constantly grateful for our ongoing collaboration, and look forward to his speedy return.

Daniel requests that the show must go on, so Mr. J, my trusty iPhone and my wrinkled white linen tunic traveled with me to the periphery of the Denver Botanic Gardens to honor him and our monthly ritual dedicated to the love of hats.

July’s Hat Attack was discovered last week in Santa Fe, New Mexico.  I will be blogging about my adventures next week.  Wherever I travel, seeking headwear is an important part of the exploration of my destination.

This chapeau was created in Santa Fe by Minetta Designs HERE.  I love the neutral color of the straw, the unusual shape, and the folds and creases of the crown and brim. Every angle of this hat has its charm!  It feels somewhat like wearing a flower on my head.  Who doesn’t want to feel  “in bloom,” even during turbulent times.

I’m making some changes to Hat Attack, which is an ongoing celebration of headwear. I’ve decided to leave the link-up open every day of the month, so participation can take place at anytime, every day of the year.  Why limit the enjoyment of hats to only one week of the month!

Linking up with Catherine’s #iwillwearwhatilike HERE at Not Dressed As Lamb and Patti’s Visible Monday HERE at Not Dead Yet Style.

Anyone can participate!  All you need is a URL, which can be acquired from Instagram, Facebook or your website.  If you have difficulty with adding your photo to the link-up, send me an email at judith@jmkdesignstudio.com/stylecrone and I will help you problem solve.  All forms of headwear are appreciated:  hat, headwrap, headscarf, headpiece, fascinator, hair flower, headband or other adornment for your head that you enjoy.  Multiple photos are appreciated!

Give The SC a JULY HAT ATTACK and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post. Participation will be open through JULY 31st.  I’m expecting Daniel to be back for August’s link-up, with his outrageous sense of humor, artistic eye, and exquisite attention to detail.

  1. FANTASTIC!

and BIG HUG & speedy recovery to Daniel – what a great guy & creative soul he is —

  2. This is indeed an unusual hat. The folds make it special. Compliments to Mr J for taking pictures which show the hat from all sides. Especially the third photo is fun where you look up to the sky just like those beautiful flowers do.
I hope Daniel will recover soon and your cooperation (such a successful one) can continue.

  3. That is an interesting free form brim. i think it adds a more sculptural feel to the overall hat-takes it a notch above your usual sun hat. Are those you Tritomas? They are amazing! I don’t have success with them and they die an untimely death. With the change of the hat attack format, I will see if can contribute more during the month.

  4. I adore the hat, and Santa Fe is probably my favorite place to be in the world. It is everything wonderful about New Mexico and an incredible mix of wide open space and worldly sophistication. So glad you visited!

  5. You look gorgeous! I love the white linen tunic with black pants. Your nails always look great too. My coloring is very similar to yours and I would love to know the names of the nail polish colors you are wear. Thanks!

  6. Great post. Great hat and outfit.
Your concern and honesty about Daniel is refreshing because this age is authentically real for you and, us, your peers.
    Wishing Daniel a smooth recovery.

  7. Dear Judith,
What a fantastic hat!! You look wonderful with all the red-hot pokers behind you! (At least that is what we call them here! 😉 )
I will keep Daniel in my prayers.
    With love,
    Jewel :)) xo

  8. Prayers and Healing Energy for your friend, Daniel. Thanks to YOU for all the beautiful hats over the last 3 years. Always, you inspire me….

  9. All my best wishes to Daniel, I hope he has a speedy recovery. Mr J has done a great job as these shots of you wearing your Santa Fe purchase are stunning.Glad to hear you bring hats home as reminders of your travels, I have recently returned home from Paris to Australia with a hat box containing three new hats. Thankyou for hosting Hat Attack .

  10. That is a “living” hat! It’s beautiful, the setting with the rocks and the red hot pokers perfect, and despite your “wrinkled white linen” you are stunning as always ; Mr. J has done a fabulous job behind the lens.

Best wishes for a healthy, speedy recovery to Daniel.

  11. Sending love and good energy to your friend. I hope he feels better soon and he can continue on with taking amazing photos of you! The hat is gorgeous and simple with the white tunic. Happy to see your smile 🙂 I’m finally linking up with hat attack yay!! Nice to see you opening up more options so people can participate. Very fun!

  12. Spectacular photos of you amongst my favourite flowers, red hot pokers!
Here’s to Daniel’s swift and speedy recovery. xxx

  13. Oh you are so wonderful – this hat is quite a triumph especially with the linen and the setting just makes it. Sending good vibes to Daniel – hope he has a very speedy recovery. XXX

  14. I hope Daniel’s surgery went well and he has a full and fast recovery so the two of you can get back to your photo shoots. Kudos to Mr. J for stepping in as a last minute replacement 😉

I have trouble finding summer hats that I will actually wear, and I very much like this one – the neutral colour and interesting shape means you can wear it with everything (for those of us who don’t have as many hats as SOME people).

  15. Oh Judith. This is so lovely. The hat is probably one of the best summer hats I’ve seen and it is so perfect with the linen in the garden. This reminds me very much of the photos I’ve seen of Audrey Hepburn in her garden. Do you know the ones I mean? Anyhoo…I am joining the Hat Attack for the very first time ever. Vive les chapeaux!!!

  16. Lovely, as always..you are such a natural model. The ensemble is so filled with youthful energy, with or without the hat. Best wishes to your photograher..

    Geneva

  17. I love your hat! And it is so fun to see all the hats participating in the link up this month. I wish we all wore hats everyday! Peace! Cheryl

  18. I hope that Daniel is on the road to recovery by now. You and he have a great partnership which is evident by you wonderful and joyful photographs. This hat suits your surroundings very well Judith. We have red hot poker plants in the garden on Tresco too. The colour is a great background for your neutral ensemble. Wishing you a lovely week x
