When I recently heard through the grapevine that a John Fluevog HERE store had opened on Larimer Square, I was beyond ecstatic. How did this happen without my knowledge? It’s probably because I spend so much time blogging and working on my headwrap project that I wasn’t paying attention to the local details! For several years I’ve been watching my gorgeous Canadian Sisters flaunt their Fluevogs!  Now I can enjoy them in person by driving a few minutes to the west of downtown.

On Saturday morning that is exactly what The SC and Diana did.  Gazing into the window of this new addition to Denver’s shopping scene created a moment of visual pleasure.

This is what I saw in the window, with a cameo appearance by the lovely Diana as she shoots a photo of these colorful Canadian creations.

I’m hanging around in the sale section, but of course not trying on anything that’s been marked down.  Appreciating more than one pair of shoes at a time, just for fun, was entertaining, and it didn’t cost a penny.  However, I did find a pair of boots for 50% off, but I’m keeping it a secret until they have their first reveal.  I seldom buy retail, but this was a special occasion.

Larimer Square HERE is Denver’s “oldest and most historic block and its buildings tell vividly the story of the birth and early years of the city.”  In the 60’s this area was saved from demolition and became Denver’s first historic district in 1971.  “Larimer Square currently has more than 100 tenants with 40 retail/restaurant merchants in that mix.”

Reaching for floral abundance in leopard print pillbox and belt, both of which were estate sale finds.  When in doubt, go leopard!  Fall is in the air, and I couldn’t resist the call of the wild.

Hanging off of a sculpture at the entrance to a building, with my consignment store jean skirt and vintage shop plum suede heeled slingbacks, both purchased in Florida last summer. The plum short-sleeved sweater was discovered at an estate sale years ago. The bag was a gift from Nelson and Camille for my 65th birthday, which now seems like another lifetime!

Rioja HERE, according to critics, is one of the best restaurants in Denver.  Award winning Chef/Owner Jennifer Jasinski and her team feature inspired Mediterranean food which is influenced by local seasonal products.  I’ve eaten at her restaurant for special occasions, and I wholeheartedly concur with the critics.

The Comedy Works HERE has been around for 25 years, keeping Denver laughing with its star-studded lineup of stand-ups.

I’m joining Patti and the crew at Visible Monday HERE at Not Dead Yet Style.  I’m always thrilled with the diversity and self expression that shows up at this weekly event.  Thank you Patti, for gathering us all together!

I’m taking my leopard print over to Sacramento’s Share-in-Style-Animanls HERE at Mis Papelicos!

  1. I would wear hats but my head is really large…But thanks to reading your blog and the book, Advanced Style, I now wear a myriad of bracelets. I love bracelets but I don’t dress up much because I’m a virtual assistant so I work from my home. But…when I go out, I do wear different bracelets.

    Love your blog.

  2. Just wanted to say I’m really enjoying the tour of Denver your posts are now including! I’ve not visited the city and I love the way the city has become the setting for your visibility photos! How lovely! Thanks.

  3. Oh Judith, do I ever love that high-waisted skirt on you, and the denim wash with the deep plum and animal print is gorgeous. Thrilled to see you enjoying your local Fluevog store so thoroughly – both the Minis and Operettas look amazing on you, but I’m excited for you to reveal what you chose! And for the next Hat Attack – I am ready!!!

  4. I used to live in Denver and spent most of my time at a coffee shop on Larimer Square. Is that new shoe shop in the space where the coffee shop used to be?

  5. I am right there with you on love for Fluevogs. There may be a pair of them for me when the season changes.
You are looking very well Judith! Very well, indeed.

  6. I found it. The Market..still run by the same guy…and he looks younger now than he did back then.

  7. I loved Denver. It was and is a beautiful city. I am loving your tour of it as well as your fashion.

  8. Judith, how exciting that John Fluevog store opened in CO! I have been eyeing a pair myself for several months, but still don’t own a pair. I am loving that wine suede (looks yummy!) and it is feeling like Fall in Atlanta already. I can’t wait! xoxo

  9. The rich colors of your outfit first got my attention, along with LEOPARD!!! Always fabulous, I concur. I wish could agree with Gabriella about feeling Fall in the air, but then again, I’m longing for a “real” New England-style Fall, sigh.

I really love the high-waisted skirt on you. It’s a style that can be tricky (down-right impossible for me) and it’s one of those looks that I love to see on the right person. You create a timeless sensibility with contemporary and vintage pieces. You look classy, creative, and completely fabulous, a poster child (or pin-up?!!) for ageless dressing.

The next time I come to Denver, will you take me to the Fluevog store? I’m starting to save up now, just based on the boots you were trying on. I’m madly in love with them.

    XXXXOOOO!!!!!

  10. Oh, Fluevogs! How lucky you are to have a local try-on store…you are looking very beautiful (as usual) and I can’t wait to see your new boots…

  11. P.S. I’m going to be late for your second hat attack because I’m not home, but I’m going to do my utmost to get in there before the week closes!!!! I have the perfect hat, just not the perfect foil for it. I was going to make something…oh well, we’ll see what happens.

  12. I love those boots you’re trying on – I hope you bought the taller ones!! (I can’t wait to see!)

You look great in that high-waisted skirt, not to mention the lovely mulberry and leopard pieces.

  13. Turn of the century boots are my weakness! I can’t wait to see which ones you purchased. I love how you up-styled the denim skirt and made it very chic with that plum sweater and gorgeous leopard hat.

  14. Oooh, so happy you got to check out some Fluevogs in person! I adore the tall Mini family boots you have on. Aren’t they surprisingly comfortable?

Love your wonderful outfit – the touches of burgundy are luscious.

  15. I bought my first and only pair of Fluevogs at the original Fox and Fluevog store in Gastown, a funky Vancouver neighbourhood. This hood looks similar, and I think that’s great! Lucky you, finding boots at 50% off. With Fluevogs, you almost have to buy them at retail. People just don’t give them up to good will.

Great outfit, and I love the pillbox hat!!!

  16. You are definitely ready for Autumn in your plum and leopard. I have to admit I’m looking forward to being able to layer again. Hot and sticky weather makes it hard to look stylish. This looks like a great neighbourhood and now it’s even better with the addition of the Fluevog store. I love the styles but they don’t fit my feet, so I can only admire them from a distance. I can’t wait to see what boots you purchased.

I will see you on the September Hat Attack!

  17. You look fabulous — can’t believe how much length there is to your pencil skirt yet it still ends just at the knees.
Interesting that Madame L-B notes Denver’s resemblance to Vancouver’s Gastown which, of course, is where the first Fluevog store was situated (as Fox & Fluevog) so long ago, and where they now have their second (& biggest) store. Looking forward to seeing your new boots.

  18. Gorgeous! I’m looking forward to seeing your new boots, too.

I have been to the Fluevog store in San Francisco just once, when a visiting friend wanted to go. Sadly, even ignoring the cost, they are not for me- no wide sizes! I bought my beloved Naya Lightning boots because they reminded me a bit of Fluevogs though, so I could say they still have an effect on my wardrobe. (:

  19. Goodness gracious, I forgot to put the very thing I wanted to comment on first: that skirt looks like it was made for you. (or maybe you were made to rock the pencil skirt?) Congratulations once again on looking rocking.

  20. I love seeing Denver and being escorted by you. The leopard hat rocks but I seriously dispute you ever being in doubt when it comes to getting dressed, you always look fabulous! x

  21. Fabulous boots – no wonder you were excited about the store opening. And I can’t believe you’ve been to Clevedon Pier! Isn’t it beautiful? One of my friends has just moved nearby so this was my first visit.

  22. You’re Denver’s finest travel guide. Some times I do not know what to write. It’s amazing what you show us. Beautiful beautiful I also love this Color, the shoes finally is so amazing. Thanks..

  23. Hello Judith, my, but don’t you look FANTASTIC? Sorry to have dropped out of the blogging scene for a while, but I still check your blog and love “seeing” you in all your outfits. I love reading about how you are approaching life as it evolves for you.

How marvellous that you have a Fluvog store. I remember I used to look in their windows in Gastown in Vancouver when I lived there, and go, “oooh, aah!”

    Much love from England,
    Rose from http://www.foreveronthecatwalkoflife.blogspot.com

  24. Another fabulous tour of Denver and you are looking stunning !!!
AH Fluevogs–how i wish they were near me!! I can’t wait to see the boots you purchased!!

  25. The legendary fluevogs! I can’t wait to see which boots you bought.
You look so elegant in a pencil skirt and I love the fun leopard hat. I need to pull a hat out and get along to your hat party xx

  26. Good morning Judith. You are wearing one of my favorite types of outfits. Your pretty figure looks fabulous in a high waisted skirt and the classic shoe and top is very flattering. Can’t wait to see which shoe you purchased, looks like so many great choices!

I’m enjoying how you are telling a story of “around town” in your posts. I think this a fun perspective to take. Beautiful pictures.

    blue hue wonderland

  27. I love how your trips around Denver are both inspiration and photo backdrops for your gorgeous ensembles. And a new Fluevog store is certainly worthy of attention. As everyone has said: I can’t wait to see what you’ve chosen. Who knew a denim straight skirt could be so amazingly styled?!

  28. I can’t wait to see which boots you chose! I thoroughly enjoy accompanying you on your tours of Denver, you are quite the most stylish tour guide ever, Judith!
Love the rich plummy shades with the leopard print, and that high waisted skirt couldn’t show off your fabulous figure any better, you look amazing.
Have my Hat Attack contribution all ready, see you Sunday! xxxx

  29. You just got me a bit excited for fall, looking so splended in that wine color and leopard print. I’m still trying to get over how stunning you look in that high-waisted pencil skirt.
Lucky, lucky, you for being able to walk to a Fluevogs (I’m quite jealous). The photo of you peering in with such pure delight is priceless. I think we could all relate to our you were feeling. Those operettas have got to be on your top (want) list, talk aabout having Judith written all over them. I’m looking forward to seeing what you actually did purchase.
Thanks for the hat attack reminder, I best be looking for my next hat.

  30. Wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwww You are more beautiful than any teenage supermodel, ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
I cannot get over your perfect skirt, and those glorious shoes and boots.
    XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

  31. That’s a fabulous autumnal looking outfit. I adore that pencil skirt on you, and your leopard hat is one of my all time favourites. Such happy and elegant images as usual.

  32. So much to love here, Judith, as usual. You are clearly the Mistress of Mixes … all the textures and patterns and ideas. I’ve been on the deep-cool-red wavelength lately, and I was happy to see you present some, pre-fall! It’s one of the color ranges I dream about for this winter. As always, you look deeply cool, intrigueingly mysterious and agelessly beautiful.
Fleuvogs in Middle-America. Who would’a thunk it? There is hope for us after all.
I cannot imagine finding this store with deep sales going on and not buying a pair if at all possible. What I’m amazed at is that there was anything on sale in our size! So tickled that you allowed yourself to be seduced. It ought to happen to every woman at least once a week, this high quality sartorial thrill! Can’t wait to see your choice!

  33. Ooo, looking rather sublime, darling! Posing off like a STAR!
I do hope you bought those heavenly Fluevog boots! I so wish we had that brand down here, there’s nothing else like them in the world!
Thank you for your lovely comment! XXX

  34. I second the motion about those boots! And thanks to you I discovered that there’s a Fluevog store in Mpls.!!

I am almost thinking “Footwear Fantasia” should start being part of the “Hat Attack” genre — I give that brilliant idea to you since I am not a blogger 🙂

  35. I adore John Fluevogs and was instantly excited to see your post about a new store in Denver! A friend of mine just moved there, too! I look forward to your post about what you bought…50% isn’t bad!!! Your pencil skirt is also a winner…looks like you had a blast playing in the city!

  36. Beautiful lady, beautiful shoes. I love the photo of you enraptured at the store front window, and the one with the hanging flowers. Have fun wearing your Fluevogs!

  37. Hi Judith,
I’ve been reading your blog for a while but I don’t think I’ve commented yet.
Can’t wait to see your Fluevog score. I don’t buy retail either, but would save up if they made more of their styles in non-leather options.
That high-waisted skirt looks as though it was made for you. Lovely beginning of fall outfit. I don’t know about you but I’m always excited by fall weather and the greater range of clothing options (boots, jackets, sweaters, scarves…)

  38. Lovely as always, I never tire of saying this. the shoes in that shop look fantastic. Too bad I don’t think we have that brand on this side of the ocean. Nothing that the internet can’t fix, if one is willing to pay postage costs hehe.
I love your shoes and your hat in this look, particularly the hat. I’ve been wanting a hat like that for a while and yours is just perfect!
