September’s Hat Attack features a hat that I’ve owned since the 1980’s during the hat shop days. I’m celebrating the many pieces of headwear that has been with me for decades. I never tire of this beauty which is made from straw cloth and is adorned with a rhinestone pin and feathers.

This blue chapeau was created by milliner Joan Carney, who at times worked out of our shop when visiting Denver from Boston. I’ve tried to track her down over the past few years. but have been unsuccessful.

I loved her work and this is an example of a hat that I couldn’t let fly out into the world with someone other than me. There are actually several hats confiscated from the hat shop which reside in the hat room to this day! Is that a surprise to you?

To accessorize this hat, I’m wearing my vintage duster and vintage Asian clutch – estate sales, vintage embroidered shoes – gifted, cuffed jeans – retail sale several years ago, and gifted earrings – Toolally Jewels.

Now it’s your turn to throw a little headwear my way. Give The SC a SEPTEMBER  HAT ATTACK, and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post. The link-up will be open through September 30th.

  1. What a lovely hat, Judith! I am not surprised you kept it from the shop – I would have been sorely tempted too, and probably would have kept everything!

Joining up after a long hiatus! Thank you so much for hosting!

  2. The colour and style of the hat is wonderful , I can easily see why you just had to keep it for your own collection. As Sheila says it must have been so tempting to keep everything.
Many thanks for hosting Hat Attack Judith.

  3. A beautiful hat and not a surprise that you’d hang onto it. Some things feel like home. I love how the colours make you part of the garden. If I finally get a hat on my head, I’ll link up. I love seeing Hat Attack here, an old friend!

  4. These photos of you are exquisite – the colours of your outfit coordinate beautifully with the garden. I can’t believe this is your 74th Hat Attack. I remember when you started it!

  5. I love the colours in this outfit and the fact you’re wearing jeans yet you look so stylish.

I’ve been wearing the grey hat nearly every day. Our new abode and the area it’s in is much more amenable to hat wearing so will aim to post another hat pic soon 🙂
