Today’s March Hat Attack is a black wool fabric hat with architectural features that I purchased at Mieko Mintz in NYC years ago, during the time that Mieko had a storefront in SoHo.  It is the piece of headwear that I appreciate during the coldest days of winter in Denver.

This past February has been bitter cold, and my Mieko Mintz headwear has kept me warm.  Along with my first puffer jacket, that I discovered recently in NYC when strolling through the garment district.  It was deeply discounted and it has become my latest love, keeping me warm and toasty during the cold days of February.

Now I understand the plethora of puffer jackets that I see everywhere.  Though functional, they can also make a style statement and I’ve enjoyed getting to know the joys of the puffer phenomenon. I’ve learned to never say never when it comes to venturing into a new direction.  Even if temporarily!

My black outfit displayed on white snow depicts the season.  This is a departure from my usual motif, by why be so predictable.  I did spark the ensemble up with a bit of silver jewelry. and gifted Freda Salvador shoes. Style is about experimenting and having fun!

  1. That’s a very sleek and stylish puffer (as if you would wear any other kind) – I like the off-center zipper and smaller quilting on the lower part of the sleeves! I’ve been wearing a down-filled puffer jacket for the last two months but it’s definitely not as cool as yours.

  2. That’s a lovely hat and more interesting than the usual felt/fabric hat that we all wear in the cold weather – I love it. I’m also impressed with the puffer coat as I feel the same way about them – they can make you look very large. This coat is cool and you look lovely in it.

Gosh and doesn’t it look cold and snowy where you are! We have the usual grey cloudy weather, with that slightly damp cold that can be quite cold but not I think as cold as some countries!

  3. Hey Judy-
Just wanted to say that Mieko is married to my cousin – we get together for major holidays, and will be seeing her soon at my dad’s 95thbirthday. Her stuff is beautiful, especially the clothes that she designs from her own custom printed silks.
    Miss you,
    Steve and Fran Altshuler
