The SC is drawn to hats that allow themselves to be molded into many different permutations or personalities.

The flexible shape changers of the millinery world!

This black lacquered straw hat with patent leather band from my hat shop in the 80’s takes me as far as my creativity allows.  The possibilities are endless!

This hat was designed by Kokin HERE, who has a flair for the dramatic.  Meeting Kokin many years ago in his showroom in NY during a hat shop buying trip was an experience that I will remember always!

This week my yoga teacher made the request of her students to “express your gaze as tender and unwavering.”  The above shape allows The SC to practice off the mat, wondering if such feelings can be transmitted across the internet.

As soon as this chapeau hit the hat shop, I knew that it would be mine.  However, I have been known to rent its lacquered beauty for special occasions.  It needs more outings than The SC could ever provide.

These photos include a few of the shapes that were created in a short period of time.  Give me an afternoon to play and this post could go on for days.

Kokin names his designs, and in this case, “The Funnel Of Love” lives up to its chosen title.  It’s Visible Monday HERE at Not Dead Yet Style, and this versatile piece of headwear is joining Patti’s delightful party.  This is a link-up not to be missed!  Which is also true of Secondhand First HERE at the The Citizen Rosebud, where Bella is featuring a 90’s review.

Now it’s your turn to throw a little headwear love my way.

Please display your hat, headwrap, headpiece, fascinator, hair flower, headband or other adornment for your head that you adore, give The SC a JUNE HAT ATTACK and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post.  Can’t wait to see the beautiful creations that you share throughout the next week. Participation will be open through Saturday, June 7th.

  1. I LOVE the name, The Funnel of Love! What a fun post Judith. I appreciate the fun that you were clearing experiencing. So many shapes, all of them flattering to you. I have played a little with changing the lie of a brim, but have been afraid that I might damage the hat. Are there any guidelines or signs to watch out for when indulging in a little hat rearranging?

  2. I wish I could join you but I am all out of hats. This laquered straw piece is a beauty. So nice of you to let other people have fun with it too. Also great earrings. Looking as smashing as ever.

  3. What an amazing hat – I’ve never seen one that can be molded into so many different configurations! It is definitely a “Funnel of Love”. I will do my best to get a hat photo to add in the next day or two.

  5. Funnel of Love. How clever!
It’s so interesting that it can be molded into so many shapes and still retain its quality.
Joining up this month with my go-to hat, a genuine Panama. I wear it at least once a week even though I have several others.

  6. Hello my dear Judith, if I wait to wear a hat I will never join you, so here I am breaking the rules.

  7. Oh, Judith, you just made my heart strings sing with joy. I seriously spent the better part of my Saturday (yes, yesterday) on a hunt for the perfect summer black straw hat. One that could take me to dinner, to lunch dates with the girls, to the pool, etc. and I came home empty handed. I knew I wasn’t dreaming, I knew there had to be one somewhere and here it is on your pretty little head, right where it belongs. Thank you for showing us how versalite this wonder is and the different personalities it presents itself. Now I’m just wondering if they make such a wonder anymore.

  8. Wow that is quite the transformative hat. So much fun to play with! When you have a hat like that all you really need to own is one hat : )

    bisous

  9. Gorgeous, as always, Judith! What a spectacular hat, and even more so when you can wear it in a myriad of different ways. My favorite variation is in the second photo. When it comes to wearing hats you make the rest of us look like amateurs 😉
