Vintage white fabric hat with horsehair trim/Neusteter’s label-consignment shop,  vintage pearls and vintage white leather gloves with cutout designs-estate sales, Nicholas K black jacket with short wide sleeves-Buffalo Exchange, worn with black foundation.

Nelson and The SC received flowers from a dear friend, so why not create an outfit to complement this lovely gift.  Today my focused gaze landed on a chapeau that had been patiently waiting for years for an outing.  Didn’t that happen in January to another persistent white hat in The Hat Room?  This vintage beauty threw itself upon my head, framed my face with its tuft of trim and played in harmony with the white lilies.  The vintage white leather gloves had been waiting for the perfect ensemble as well, so this floral display precipitated a white and black explosion which was captured by Nelson ‘at the drop of a hat.’

  1. I love black and white. What a great way to showcase such beautiful accessories! The gloves in particular are driving me crazy. Gorgeous.

  2. LOVE that jacket!!! Your black and white ensemble reminds me of the Coco Chanel quote, “I have said that black has it all. White too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.”

  3. Sacramento’s right, those blooms fade into insignificance compared to you. How do you do it? Always beautiful and stylish and I adore those gloves. xxx

  4. Beautiful flowers – gorgeous outfit! What can I say – I love the way you coordinate your clothes and hats (I must be missing that gene!) However, what I love more is the way you have with words, you really capture a feeling that must come over you as you put together these charming outfits. By the way, I passed by that Hat Shop on Thompson Street today and marveled at the beauties in the windows and thought of you.

  5. Judith,

I enjoy your website so very much. I grew up most of my life in Mexico City. You would enjoy the flea markets there for sure! I am so grateful from the depths of my soul that you have crossed paths with a part of my life. Thank you so much!

  6. While the hat is beautiful, I cannot take my eyes off the unusual jacket. Arrangements with lilies are always so wonderful because they get better as the days pass.

  7. Wonderful black and white, beautiful flowers. The gloves–oh my goodness. Would love to see a closeup, if you ever have a chance.

  8. Another fab outfit! Any chance you could give us a photo of the hat room? It would be my dream come true to have a room just for my accessories.

    Much love from England

  9. someday, will you give us a tour of the treasure troves? You have a lifetime ahead of explaining each of these sacred relics and how they came into your life. You know that is a gift, like a photographic memory to see each item in its own way, place and date of arrival into your life. Can’t wait to be introduced to them as you bring them forth.

  10. Judith,

Love the jacket & pearls! The picture of you in your elegant outfit next to the beautiful flowers was a much needed reminder of “spring is coming” out here in rainy California. Thinking of you and Nelson.

    Trish
