Wearing Denim With Vintage
It was a warm fall day in Denver. Balmy enough to wear short sleeves after the autumnal sun broke free from the morning clouds and graced the city once more before the snow fell days later. Out came my vintage two piece satin dress with jacket, which I purchased at Santa Fe Antiques this summer. Give me a great antique market and I can get lost amidst the vendors for hours.
Wearing vintage with jeans comes easy for me. It brings a dressy ensemble to casual and funky, and switches up formal to fun. I found these Rag & Bone Jeans at a summer retail sale several years ago. I wore this vintage satin structured beret on my last post. With this ensemble I molded it to a different shape, which displays its versatility and range. Mixing vintage with modern is a practice which brings me much pleasure and provides a playground for creativity and experimentation.
I love the details and the large collar of this turquoise colored jacket, and the sun-dappled lighting mirrored the mood of the day. There’s something nostalgic about seasonal transitions, and the reprieve that comes with a warm and sunny day in November.
Winter will be here in just a few minutes. For today, I’m soaking up the sun and playing with Daniel, as per usual during our weekly rendezvous. As evidenced by the photo below.

I love how you’ve worked in the denim here, Judith! It adds a fun bit of edge. Love the cuffs on those jeans, too!
How beautiful!
Perfect and unique combinations. Lovely shades of blue really compliment your eyes and hair. Thanks for the great ideas of how to step out in style.
Judith, you manage to make even denim jeans look glamorous! You’ve inspired me to wear hats now and again. What next?
The addition of the jeans makes the outfit so contemporary. That sweet turquoise set is the kind of thing I used to look for when I was in my 20’s – I loved that style of dress but I rarely found any that fit me.
