Whenever I travel I have my eye out for hats.  It’s second nature and part of my DNA at this point.  So when in San Francisco, I called milliner DeAnna Gibbons HERE, with the intention of visiting her studio.  She generously suggested that I visit Hats On Post HERE, a delightful hat shop tucked away on the sixth floor of a building close to Union Square HERE, blocks from our location.

I was not disappointed.  I discovered the above headpiece by Celine Robert Hat Design France HERE, who is “famed for her chic bandeau and turban style hats.”  In the process of researching Celine Robert, I found the site LOVE HATS HERE, which provides access to headwear by many talented milliners and the ability to virtually try on a chapeau.  One thing leads to another for seekers of all things millinery!

Yes, it now has a perch in the hat room!  Its complex and intricately twisted black straw form is sprinkled randomly with raspberry colored beads, and I’m in hat heaven. But as I have resolved, I will be downsizing one hat whenever one is added.  I have a rack in my basement studio for just that purpose.

Thank you DeAnna Gibbons, for your referral to Peggy Purcell at Hats On Post, in the photo above wearing a whimsical wide-brimmed fantasy.  Thank you Peggy, for a fabulous San Francisco hat experience and for the “hat chat” that was engaging and hat affirming.

I’m linking up with Sacramento’s Share-In-Style: Flowers HERE at Mis Papelicos.  I think my hat will have to represent a flower!  I wouldn’t want to miss the festive party.

Now it’s your turn to throw a little headwear love my way!

Please display your hat, headwrap, headpiece, fascinator, hair flower, headband or other adornment for your head that you adore, give The SC an AUGUST HAT ATTACK and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post.  Can’t wait to see the beautiful contributions that you share throughout the next week. Participation will be open through Thursday, August 7th.

  2. That, my dear friend, is not merely a “hat”…that is a most spectacular piece of art for the head, and yours is the perfect head to show it off. How can it be August already? Where did July go?

  3. You never cease to amaze me, Judith…each hat is more fabulous than the last. I love this one…so chic and fashionable!! And I love the collar on your jacket! Very flattering and goes perfect with the hat!!

  4. What a great hat!
What a great hair color to match it with!
What a great jacket to go with everything!
Oh dear. People will say I’m starting to repeat myself.
So I’d better just say FABULOUS!

  5. A wonderful and unique hat. What a great find. You are doing a great job of taking advantage of the beauty in life and in others and keeping open to finding that in life. It is a delight that you share your life’s journey in this blog.

  6. What is this mention of an “out basket” for hats in your basement? Dear Judith, I must admit I’m curious. Having seen your newest objet d’art/trouve — one would like to view the hat you’ve chosen to discard.

Just envision your readers, perched like raccoons on a fence, waiting eagerly to pounce on whatever you put in the bin…

  7. Spectacular hat, all crosswise, twisty, almost like a chocolate pastry. Excellent. I love the idea of being able to try on hats virtually. I must have a look. Thanks for the link party, Judith. I’ve packed away most of my summer hats, so I had to scrounge. I’m glad I did.

  8. I am amazed at this gorgeous creation! And you give it life 🙂 I have a pseudo-hat for this linkup, but I wanted to join in:-)
Thanks for promoting hats so creatively. XO JJ

  9. That hat is a sculptural delight, such a beautiful piece. I am intrigued to known how you decide which hats have to go to make room for the new addition! Peggy look stunning in her hat too, I think time spent browsing in her shop would be wonderful!
I am linking another hair flower from a previous post, Judith, I hope that’s OK – I just hate to miss out, but I haven’t been wearing any hats lately! I know – a shocking omission! xxx

  10. this hat is to die for. what a special and breath taking piece!
… on my little visit at home i was lucky to find two new vintage hats … so i can’t wait to to presnt one of them next month. 🙂

  11. You have such an excellent sense of color. This beautifully done with the added beautiy of the earrings and braclet that I love.

  12. What a glorious hat! I’m speechless at its intricacy. I tried very hard to do a hat this weekend, but it’s just too hot – I hope my curlicued hair will suffice – be there soon!

  13. Another lovely headpiece, styled and accessorised so beautifully. I can’t imagine how you are going to choose which hats you no longer have room for, what a task! I’ve joined in the nick of time for this month, with OH taking the glory with his latest purchase.

  14. Oh, hello! I’m so glad to catch up! This is such a great hat … lovely to have the work of real modern milliners on display, and this one is such a beauty. As are you, as always. I shall have to find a hat or two, someday and come out to play!

  15. Oh noes! I missed it. Rats! I thought I’d have through today to get my post up. Oh well, I still love the hat you’re wearing. Gorgeous as always!

  16. I was scrambling up a post but missed the deadline! I will look forward to next Hat Attack but wanted to say how incredibly beautiful your pleated, swirling, beaded hat is, how lovely a frame with your collar! Thank you Judith for more glimpses into your San Francisco adventures, and for hosting this wonderful gathering.

  17. Gah! I’ve just returned from San Francisco so I reeeaaaallly wish I knew about Hats on Post before my visit! Sigh. I will just have to return. Although transporting an elaborate hat back to Australia might have been a bit of a packing challenge……..

Beautiful chapeau, you wear it so well.
