To me, luxury is collecting and wearing beautiful

To me, luxury is collecting and wearing beautiful and unique headwear. I’ve created a hat room in my home which currently displays my spring/summer beauties. The fall/winter hats are stored in the vintage hat boxes which I collect and also inhabit the space. I arrange the hats by color, which makes it easy to choose my chapeau for the day based on my mood and the ensemble that I intend to compose. My hat room is my treasured luxury and #ThatsDazs.

Headwear is the accessory that I feel the most passionate about. Enjoying luscious Dulce De Lethe @haagendazs_us ice cream straight from the container with a vintage gold spoon is how I’ve been expressing my passion and finding luxury today. #ad #LuxuryisWhereYouAre #DazsPartner

Ari @advancedstyle discovered this possibly Victorian handmade piece on a rack and he styled and photographed me wearing it along with Nelson’s trench coat draped over my shoulders (in the second photo). Finding the right hat was a challenge, but worth the search. With this post I’m continuing with my partnership with the Denver Art Museum @denverartmuseum as part of the exhibition “Paris to Hollywood: The Fashion and Influence of Véronique and Gregory Peck.” On brilliant display are 100 ensembles by 17 different couturiers and designers from around the world from the wardrobe of Parisian writer, philanthropist, and fashion influencer Véronique Peck. In honor of the exhibition, I’m wearing a green silk satin coat from the 1960s and a vintage velvet and satin turban by Schiaparelli.

Through more than four decades of material from the 1950s to the 1990s, the presentation provides an overview of how fashion changed as the roles of women in society evolved in the 20th century. Curated by the incredible Florence Müller,, the exhibition runs from now until July 18, 2021.

Photographed by Eric Stephenson, I traveled through the exhibition in awe of the selection of dresses which demonstrated the meticulous artistic creativity that went into the creation of these garments, revealing Véronique‘s talent for choosing the best designer pieces emblematic of each season and occasion. I love wearing gowns and every piece in my collection has a story. I spotted this beauty while driving down the street in a residential area in the middle of summer about 25 years ago. There was a yard sale going on, and a gentleman was standing on the edge of the boulevard with this garment and matching scarf in hand, which were blowing softly in the wind. I came to a screeching stop and opened my window, asking the price. One dollar he said. SOLD!!! It was only when I arrived home home that I looked for the label, and was thrilled to see that I had just purchased a vintage Valentino for $1.00. Friday Afternoon at the Antique Market! @denverantiquesetc I can’t resist an antique mall, so my return to this thrilling activity included a stop by @retroroomfurniture Not only do I wear recycled clothing, most of the furniture and decor in my home is #buyseconfhandfirst I was intrigued that the colors in my vintage plaid maxi with hood by @thehouseoffindings and the colorful hat by my milliner and artist friend @carolmarkel harmonized with the pieces in this sensational vendor space that specializes in mid century furniture, artwork, and lighting. Why am I so happy? Today I thankfully took my first in-person yoga class in 13 months! My studio is Covid-safe and I’m fully vaccinated! On-line classes were a lifesaver, but it feels so good to be challenged once again.

I found these pants at the back of my closet, and they provide just the right amount of flair for the day.
