Recently The SC received a gift from dear friends Lonnie and Terry.   When I laid eyes upon this whimsical piece, I thought immediately that it was nothing less than a charm bracelet for the head.

Lonnie is a brilliant artist and creative HERE and HERE.  Equally talented, Terry is a huge fan of estate sales.  Along with another friend, we had a booth in an antique market years ago.  I’m grateful to have friends who know how much I would enjoy this handmade adornment for the head.

Each “charm” has been stitched unto its base of felt with playful thoughtfulness.

  2. So adorable. Now what about a matching handbag???? I am so stuck on handbags today, as I am taking my newest treasure, a pink felt with metal cage by Jollee Originals out for a party. Looking foward to what hats will come along here.

  3. What a wonderfully quirky and creative hat! Look, there’s a J for Judith, so you know it’s yours! Great photos, you look fabulous. xxx

  4. I ADORE THAT HAT AND THE WONDERFUL WOMAN WEARING IT. What an extra boon that sweet and (can’t resist!) charming topper is the thoughtful gift of friends. Extra magic! Your pictures lately have such a joyful, spontaneous spirit to them, I can’t help but admire your beauty all the more.

  5. This hat is inspiring! One could ‘charm’ any felt beret with a collection of pins! (My crazy cat lady cats…?) But then there’s the possibility of creating ceramic doodads on a theme: leaves, birds, astrological symbols. And pasta! One could decorate a beret with macaroni! * Thanks for my morning giggle, Judith.

  6. Best hat in the worldddddddddddddddd.

  8. Since everyone else is saying it … Charming! You are, you know. I don’t know another woman who could carry that hat off like you do, and that’s no exaggeration! Happy Hat Attack! We shall see if I can carry one off this fall like I’d like to … I keep trying, but when the top of my head is hidden by the hat, all I can see is my jowls! There has to be a solution. I persevere!

  9. Hey! I made it just in time- didn’t have a blog post but took this snap for instagram at a friend’s SF shop. LOVED this vintage early 20th century straw boater and ya know- it was perfect for the #hatattack. Love youse!
