Hat Attack #29

December 1st, 2015

December’s Hat Attack spends its days on the mantel, above the fireplace in my home.  Why keep beauty hidden in a box when it can be on display?  It was purchased at The Hat Shop NYC HERE in the late 90’s, and I love its wispy feathers and compelling mix of greens.

Headpiece, fascinator, holiday ornament.  The term or category used to describe this piece is insignificant. The importance lies in its allure and how it makes me feel when I glance daily at its playful splendor.  Why save that rich experience for special occasions?  Especially when the starkness of winter has the tendency to cloud my view.

    Dear Judith–
I absolutely love this headpiece! I would leave it out all year long as well! I have made a “valance” out of many vintage hats held gently together with wire and attached to my curtain rod in my home Art Studio! That way I experience their beauty all year long! On occasion I “unhook” one and wear it! I get so much enjoyment from your beautiful blog and IG gallery.
    Thank you so very much!
    Jewel 😀 xo
Enjoy this Festive time of year!!

My dearest Judith, this is the closest I get to wering a hat, but I had to link up.
    Much love always

What a wonderful piece, I thought it was foliage at first. It’s fabulously festive and looks incredible. xxx

  10. Val S

What a fascinating fascinator! It looks lovely against your silver hair, which would have been a completely different look against the red. It’s so festive, and of course, you have the perfect gloves, too! I’ll be linking up later.

  11. Shelley

Love the whimsical explosion of greenery (it looks a bit Dr. Seuss-ical)! You can make any piece of headwear look very chic. The green stands out beautifully against your white hair and makes me think of pine trees in snow. Ok, I’ll stop with the metaphors, analogies and what have you 😉

Your fascinator is lovely! A bit of bright spring green in the grey of winter. So dramatic!

I love it on you but could never wear it myself. I would constantly be trying to sweep those wispy bits out of my face.

[…] with Judith Boyd of StyleCrone, we celebrate the wearing of hats! She’s wearing a green feathered headpiece which is stunning and reminds me of an exotic bromeliad. The feathers vary in width, with some being quite narrow […]

  27. FeltHappiness

Your green headpiece is gorgeous – like an exotic bromeliad in color and shape. And it must move wonderfully, due to it being made of feathers! Bouncing and wiggling and whatnot.

Much appreciation for this opportunity to wear a hat. Moreover, thank you for encouraging others to wear hats!

    All the best,

  28. Jazzy Jack

    And I’m too late!
Still, I can enjoy your feathery feature against your snowy coiffure.
Do you find your hat colour choices are changing against your white hair? Or does it bring out new features in beloved old hats?
Looking stunning as always my dear!
    Xo Jazzy Jack

  29. Linda

I cannot for one minute believe that you are 72! You are such an inspiration!!

  30. FeltHappiness

Many thanks StyleCrone for stopping by and writing. Indeed, I do love your recent green hat attack hat. My absolute favorite (so far) is your turquoise blue feathered hat. That hat really tempts me to learn to work with feathers; love how they reflect the light when applied to a curved (hat) surface.

The biggest surprise is that I hadn’t realized that you were a proprietor of a hat shop!! Ah, that explains the passion!! Thank you again for all your sweet appreciations and inspiring us all to live life fully! With or without hats!!
