Hat Attack #22

May 1st, 2015

I’ve been spending time over the past few weeks at Heather Stoten’s millinery studio, The Hat Workshop HERE.  She’s making my hat for Camille’s wedding, which has been a collaborative and creative process that brings me great pleasure.  May’s Hat Attack is a cream paribuntal straw hat with hand rolled cream and black silk leaves.  I spotted this beauty on a rack in the studio and decided to feature it today.

It’s another hat that I adore, but will leave behind in Heather’s studio.  Wearing it for Hat Attack is “enough.”  Documenting its beauty with a photo fulfills my heart’s desire and provides the practice of letting go.

The top of the chapeau displays Heather’s artistry, skill and talent.

Playing in Heather’s studio, surrounded by hat blocks and hat boxes from London, is the very definition of living life to the fullest!  Thank you Heather, for the opportunity to work with you and have access to your “house of hats.”

Now it’s your turn to throw a little headwear love my way!

Please display your hat, headwrap, headpiece, fascinator, hair flower, headband or other adornment for your head that you adore, give The SC a MAY HAT ATTACK  and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post. Can’t wait to see the beautiful contributions that you share throughout the next week. Participation will be open through Thursday, May  7th.

A wonderful juxtaposition of cream and black and glamorous as always .
As a textile artist I wonder how exactly she does those beautiful leaves ? And as often with exquisite hats I worry about how it could ever be cleaned !
Like all your fans I look forward to pix of the wedding and now will especially watch out for The Hat .

Magnificent, as always! And the cape is perfect. I looked at Heather’s site last night. I wish I had a trip to Colorado planned – what an artist! Thank you, yet again, for sharing your style and for giving fellow hat lovers a platform to share our delights!

Maybe with the Kentucky Derby on Saturday, people will adore themselves in hats. This will be the first year in many that we won’t give a Detby party. Maybe next year. It’s exciting to hear about your daughter’s wedding!

Oh Judith, this is the second beauty you leave behind. What a restraint!
When I opened your blogpost I sighed and said to myself… this is an epiphany. You look so lovely. That jacket is so fantastic with the hat. 10 out of 10 my dear.

  20. Suzanne

Wow! Another stunning outfit. I love that you kept it simple so it really showcases that hat.

It looks a bit like a flock of birds on the hat. Very impressive.

  21. Kezzie

That hat is marvellous! So stunning. I almost bought a new hat for my sister-in-law’s wedding in a fortnight but felt I shouldnt and now really wish I had done as it is now sold out and is the most beautiful Stephen Jones dusty pink cloche!x

  22. Kaffesoester

Wearable art, that’s what this hat is. I can’t tell if it’s leaves or angel wings on your hat, but it’s so beautiful! Perfect paired with the cream cape and fantastic gloves 🙂 Now I’m eagerly waiting to see your wedding hat. I know it’s going to be spectacular and breathtaking!

  23. Curtise

What a beauty of a hat! With your elegant cream cape and those fabulous gloves, it’s such a sophisticated look. Such fun to play in Heather’s studio! xxx

  24. Miss Boom Baby

You, the hat, the cape – truly elegance personified.

  25. Spashionista (Alicia)

Elegance personified! I’m enjoying seeing what you find in your local hat shops – and they should be honored to have you wearing their creations 😉

  26. Accidental Icon

Oh my that hat and cape are to die for!. I love the way your clothes always honor the hat, the hat honors the clothes and neither is overwhelmed by the other. You always get the balance perfectly right when you are styling. I so wish I could wear hats. Perhaps I will need to have an appointment with you to be my hat consultant like I did with Sue for glasses!

I’m disappointed in myself that I couldn’t get a hat to cooperate with my head for this attack round. Every day I woke up wondering, hat day? with resounding silence.
But that doesn’t stop me from commenting at last and admiring all the other fabulous heads here, yours in particular. The decorative elements on your hat look like birds, swans maybe, ready to take flight. Stunning! And Daniel’s photos do it justice. The cape and gloves are perfect with it.
    I saw your Instagram. Joyful.

  28. The IFs

If I were the kind to keep count, I would probably find that I am 50th in line for your jacket. Assuming you would even part with it, of course! And even if you did, would it fit me nearly as well? Don’t think I want to find out!

  29. Monika Faulkner

The ribbon detail on the top of this hat is stunning, dearest Judith!! And – as usual! – you’ve styled it to perfection with that cream-coloured cape and those leather gloves…so elegant!! XO
