Hat Attack #21

March 31st, 2015

The April Hat Attack features a spring/summer hat made from a straw crown and white organdy hand pleated brim by Heather Stoten Millinery HERE.  Her studio, The Hat Workshop, is located in Boulder, Colorado, not far from home.  I am ecstatic at having found her!

Heather is originally from London, England and her background HERE is impressive. She has sold her hats at Harrods Department Store and has worked with Philip Treacy HERE, one of my favorite hat designers.  To have her a short drive away is worth more to me than a Cartier “Tutti Frutti” necklace!

As I mentioned in a previous Hat Attack post HERE, I don’t have to own every hat that I love.  Wearing this hat from Heather’s studio and enjoying its beauty from every perspective is enough. Sharing it on Hat Attack is frosting on the delicious cake of life.

I hope to post more about my adventures in the Heather Stoten Studio, filled with hat blocks from England, racks of glorious headwear and most of all, “hat chat.”

Linking up with Jessica’s Turning Heads Tuesday HERE at Elegantly Dressed And Stylish.

Now it’s your turn to throw a little headwear love my way!

Please display your hat, headwrap, headpiece, fascinator, hair flower, headband or other adornment for your head that you adore, give The SC a APRIL HAT ATTACK  and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post. Can’t wait to see the beautiful contributions that you share throughout the next week. Participation will be open through Tuesday, April 7th.

I am so inspired that I’m going to start looking to start wearing hats. You mentioned, a few months ago, a shop in Paris. Can you tell me the name of it, again.

  2. No Fear of Fashion

I gTher you did not buy this beauty then? Oh what a shame. If I had been you I would have wanted to own it. It is magnificent. That brim, the little bow at the back! You have perfectly combined it with this jacket, the collar repeating the brim, and the gloves. Absolutely stunning.

  3. Kaffesoester

Incredible hat! And perfectly styled with the echoing collar on the jacket. This could be a cover page on Vogue or Elle magazine. You look just fantastic Judith!

I’m afraid I don’t own a single hat, only my bicycle helmet. My hair is so fine that no hat will stay on. It also goes completely flat. My hairdresser says that I have four feathers in two rows – not suitable for wearing headgear of any sort 🙁

A wonderful example of the milliners art, modeled so beautifully. Your ruffled collar and jacket the perfect backdrop for such a stunning hat. I know what you mean about not having to own every hat, I find I really admire some more formal elaborate hats but they really do not fit into my lifestyle . Thank you so very much for Hat Attack, Judith.

You are fabulous…and so is the hat!

  6. Ana Paula

    You are always so beautiful…
    I love you so much…

  7. Accidental Icon

I love Stephen Jones and the fact that you found someone right near you with his influence plus clearly individual artistry is just the luckiest thing that could happen for a hat curator as fabulous as yourself. The styling of the entire outfit (that collar and cuffs are making me breathless) belongs on the cover of Vogue.

Dear Judith, this hat is a wonder, and so are you! The details of your jacket, blouse, and gloves are the perfect complement. I’m getting better at a”love it and leave it” myself, and find that taking photos helps. 🙂

Offline these past months, I have so missed being able to participate in Hat Attack, so I’m extra-glad to be here. Thanks so much for having us over, Judith!

  9. Patti

Beautiful and inspiring – what a lovely work of art. xox

  10. Tami Von Zalez

I’m Hat Attacking with you again fabulous Judith! You are a work of art ~

  11. Cheryl Tucker

Oh my gosh, you are so lucky to have a milliner near by. That hat is certainly a piece of art. I try to think where I might wear hats besides around the house (which I would not hesitate to do and do do). I keep looking for hats that would work into my lifestyle and I know I will find things as time goes by. Your outfit is perfection also. I love the gloves, the detail they add is wonderful. Now I am going to look at Heather’s website! Peace. Cheryl

  12. LA Contessa

AND YOU STYLE IT SO WELL with the white gloves!
How exciting for YOU and HER!!!!!!!!

  13. Trina

Can I come and spend an afternoon at Heather’s shop with you? That just sounds like the most enjoyable day ever and to have it just around the corner, you lucky, lucky lady. Although Heather is on lucky lady herself to have the one and only JUdith styling her hats to the utmost glamour! Just look at you!!! Your spark of creative styling is beyond words.

  14. Shelley

Ooooo, that hat is like a tutu for your head – how wonderful! Yes, sometimes it’s enough to experience the delight of trying something on, document it, and then you can let it go. I need to learn how to do that better 😉 So glad you found that milliner in Denver, although it just means another temptation for you right in your own backyard, so to speak.

  15. Curtise

What a fantastic hat, a frothy yet structured beauty. It’s got a Fifties feel to it, very elegant. I’m pleased you have discovered Heather (say hello from England from me!) Alas, I have no hat to share this month… next time, I’ll be there! xxx

  16. Melanie

Another stunning hat for another great link-up. You are so right – there’s no need to own it. I keep telling myself that. It’s not like you would wear such a grand hat every day, not because of its opulence but because you have so many others to choose from. You look like you are from Vogue magazine in these shots. Well done to the photographer as well.
I’m sorry that my submission is weak. I bought a little hat special for this but it’s hideous now. I decided that a half-on hoodie would be better than nothing. I’ll do better next time!

  17. Spashionista (Alicia)

What a hat! Classic and yet avant-guard. Seeing it on you is truly a treat, my friend. Thank you for hosting another Hat Attack!

  18. Melanie

Sorry, I couldn’t delete the link to my vanished post so I’m there twice. EEK!

  19. Judith Boyd

Having you there twice is abundantly wonderful!

  20. Lesley

Breath taking. As a hat Junkie I was Wowed , and would really want to own this beauty. You wear it well. Thanks!

  21. PinkCheetahVintage

I like how you include hats that you don’t always own. I got a cool hat recently that I think will warrant participating in a future Hat Attack.

  22. Sheila (of Ephemera)

Stunning hat, Judith! It suits you to a tee! Thank you so much for hosting Hat Attack! I always plan a hat somewhere in the month, just for you!

  23. Vix

What a confection. I can just see you behind the wheel of Genevieve, pootling along an English country lane. Fabulous as always.
No hats for me – too windy! I’ve sent gorgeous Gaia to keep you all company! x

  24. The IFs

That is a hat attack indeed! I’m sort of speechless – nearly everything I could say has already been said by your other commenters. Except, I think, that that hat really needs an Easter parade to go to. And if they were giving out prizes, well … no contest!

  25. Suzanne

What a piece of art! That side shot is my favourite! Looks like it should be on the cover of Vogue.

  26. Jess

    Hello Judith!
I appreciate you being here. I admire your style and wish I owned as many hats. This is a lovely piece of art you are wearing ! I love the bow and the style. Very glamorous! I look forward to getting to know you more!

Thank you for linking up with Turning Heads Tuesday!
    jess xx

  27. Sheela Goh

You look positively smashing, Judith!! I tried to do you justice with not one but three headpieces this time around xoxo

  28. Penny

Another lovely hat, Judith! And the hat shop sounds interesting – hope you have fun there, many times!
