Hat Attack #17

December 1st, 2014

December’s Hat Attack brings out an estate sale red 1960’s Saks Fifth Avenue hat with brim, which has had a place in the hat room for years.

Peering from beneath its brim provides a sanctuary and offers possibilities.

I can choose to block out what I don’t want to see, or open myself up to the full view ahead.

Or look downward with the choice of contemplation, as I entertain inner thoughts and perspectives.  The advantages of wearing hats are many, and I am appreciative every day of the year. Headwear is an important piece of body armor that adds protection, yet at the same time offers celebration and self-expression.

Thank you to my blogger friend, milliner and artist Carol Markel of Femme et Fleur HERE, for her post about The SC’s trip to three cities in Europe, accompanied by Denise, the hat.  The gorgeous Denise was designed and created by Carol, and was a special addition to my adventures in Barcelona, Paris and Nice.

I’m joining the festive party at Jill’s Everything Just So HERE, where bloggers are joining in celebrating “How I wear my sweater.”

Now it’s your turn to throw a little headwear love my way!

Please display your hat, headwrap, headpiece, fascinator, hair flower, headband or other adornment for your head that you adore, give The SC a DECEMBER HAT ATTACK  and kindly link to Style Crone somewhere in your post. Can’t wait to see the beautiful contributions that you share throughout the next week. Participation will be open through Sunday, December 7th.

That’s one glorious hat! I’ve a very similar one (minus the fancy tag) on my rails, if it fitted my huge head there’s no way I’d be selling it! x

I am throwing in the towel… Hats and me.. It is not going to work. I will have to be content with looking at you, empress of head adornment.
This one is looking so good. Of course. I am a huge fan of this colour too.

I love this post! — it’s poetic and exquisite visually. It’s observations are contemplative and profound.

You are red and I am green! We make a Christmas pair.

Thank you so much for hosting.

Beautiful hat from the Hat Room (how I love that phrase!) Thanks for sharing the beauty with Visible Monday, xox.

This hat has a great shape and colour, and I like your description of how it can be used as a shield, to block out unwanted distractions. I continually marvel at, and feel a tad envious of, how you suit every hat shape.

My dearest Judith, I hope my hair is crazy anough to look like a hat. I had to join you, my beautiful friend

You wear hats so beautifully! Your photos are more stunning by the moment. The black background and the lighting are so dramatic. I can never find any hats that seem to suit me. Any recommendations?

Such a festive style, Judith! Love this!

Ah, the sight of such a beautiful hat makes me smile! I do so love your hat- it is so attractive!

Sometimes a single word will sum up a true meaning. That word is Exquisite!

There’s something so elegant about red and black, especially on a redhead. Oversized hats are so chic, too, but hard to pull off – unless it’s you! I don’t think I’ve ever seen you looking unflattering in any hat you’ve worn for us.

Have a lovely holiday season, Judith! Thanks for hosting Hat Attack for nearly a year and a half now.

  14. Suz

I love this hat and the color. Excellent choice for hat attack.

These photos are so dramatic! Wonderful : )

Such a terrific hat on you! I’m so envious…you can wear any style hat! I have a hard time with hats that have such a high crown but you look stunning. And such a perfect hat for the holidays!! Inspiring and lovely Judith.

Another regal hat making an appearance from your Hat Room. An elegant hat for a very elegant lady.

  18. Sheila (of Ephemera)

Such a dramatic chapeau! I love the secretive side of hats – now you see me, now you don’t. A glorious red too!

Thank you – as always – for hosting “Hat Attack!” I love seeing so many fabulous hats! I wore a feather fascinator clip that melded with my shaved grey on the side of my head and my sculpted pompadour in front. You inspire me, Judith!

Love the red hat. So bright with the black. Am wearing a red beret today but no photo.

Such a classy hat in such a striking color. They really don’t make them like that anymore. I prefer this style to all the same hats being created today. :] // ▲ itsCarmen.com ▲

Oh what a fabulous hat! The bold shape and dramatic colour are perfect. And wonderful against the black background, of course. xxx

    Stunning hat Judith
I love the color and shape

  23. cherie james

LOVE IT! The red hat is fabulous, but set against the all black is incredible! So unique and different. Very chic post.

What a bunch of beautiful hats on the beautiful heads of beautiful women! What a great red hat, darling Judith … you wear it so well. The other thing it does is draw attention to your beautiful jawline and cheekbones! That’s a lot for one little hat to do …but this one is so sophisticated, it just expects to be adored. As it should. I bet all of us wish we had as much confidence as your completely elegant hat exudes!

  25. Hollie

What a glorious red hat! I’d love to link up next time around 🙂
